Cayton Bay our nearest beach, only half a mile away, with its sandy beach and rock pools to explore has also been voted one of the best areas in the country for surfing and windsurfing. (see the top 2 pictures, Cayton Bay in summer and winter)

Scarborough, only three miles away, is built around it’s mighty headland topped with the castle overlooking bays both north and south, offering a wealth of shopping and entertainment.(see the lower picture)

. . . Filey at four miles an unspoilt haven in a busy world. Filey Bay, ideal for youngsters, and the rockey grandeur of Filey Brigg is famous for its geology and wildlife.

. . . Bridlington some fourteen miles away with its award-winning beaches, a prom you can stroll for miles, Leisure World with wave pool and slides and a harbour that’s been around for 900 years.

Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire Moors and The Yorkshire Wolds are all within easy reach.

As are … York, Castle Howard (Brideshead), Sea Life Centre Scarborough, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Flamingo Land Zoo & Fun Park, Eden Camp War Museum, Whitby Abbey, Hornsea Pottery and Retail Outlet and The Army Transport Museum.

Dogs are allowed on Cayton Bay all year round, please check tide times, dogs are also allowed on beaches in Scarborough and Filey, however some restrictions do apply.
